Join Jim and Chris for a brief discussion of ethics in general, examples of both ethical and unethical behavior, conflicts of interest, and some of the real-world ethical failures that have made headlines in recent years. They will challenge participants to think about ethical decision-making with case studies on various ethical dilemmas encountered in insurance.
This class has been approved for 3 CE credits in RI and MA.
About the Speakers
Christopher B. Weldon, Esq.
Keidel, Weldon & Cunningham, LLP.
Christopher Weldon started his legal career in 1990 working as an Assistant District Attorney for the Office of the Westchester County District Attorney. After leaving the District Attorney’s office in 1992, Chris continued to be actively involved in litigation and began his pursuit of handling malpractice lawsuits and other types of litigated actions, from personal injury through complicated contract and corporate matters. In 1999, Chris joined the law firm of Lustig & Brown, LLP and helped establish the firm’s Connecticut office with partner James Keidel.
Since 1999, Chris has focused his career in primarily handling professional liability claims and lawsuits involving insurance agents and brokers. In addition, Chris has handled a myriad of other matters ranging from insurance coverage disputes, personal injury lawsuits and general commercial litigation. In December 2001, Chris became the resident partner of the Connecticut office of Lustig & Brown.
In August 2008, Chris, along with James Keidel and Stephen Cunningham, opened the law firm, Keidel, Weldon & Cunningham, LLP. The law firm focuses its work on defending insurance agents and brokers in errors and omissions claims and lawsuits. In addition, the firm represents insurance agents and brokers in a myriad of other matters including regulatory issues, agency contracts, producer agreements, general corporate matters, insurance coverage opinions and insurance coverage litigation.
James C. Keidel, Esq.

James Keidel started his legal career working as an in-house attorney for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. After several years of handling life insurance related litigation nation wide, he joined the law firm of Lustig & Brown, LLP in 1990, and at that time helped establish the firm’s New York City office. In 1999, he established the firm’s Connecticut office.
Since 1990 Jim has exclusively handled professional liability claims and lawsuits involving insurance agents and brokers. Jim became a managing partner of the law firm of Lustig & Brown in 1999, heading up the firm’s professional liability practice. In August 2008, Jim and two other senior partners left Lustig & Brown and opened their own firm, Keidel, Weldon & Cunningham, LLP. Jim continues to focus his practice exclusively on the defense of professional liability claims and lawsuits involving insurance agents and brokers and E & O loss control education.
Jim has spent his entire legal career handling large exposure, complex lawsuits involving claims against insurance agents and brokers, insurance coverage litigation and counseling insurance agents and brokers on E&O loss prevention techniques. During the past twenty years, Jim has handled, managed and supervised over 6,000 E & O claims and lawsuits involving insurance agents and brokers.
